Geometrical Sudoku Board |
Last week SHI Bali had Math Week Event. This event was started from February 5 to 9, 2018. This event was conducted by teachers under principal supervision. Students, teachers, and parents were involved to this event. Math week event was held to build the sense of Math to us. "
Math is everywhere", we'd like to give experiences about mathematics to all of us through this event.
Within a week of school days, we did lot of activities related to Math. One of the activity was Math Game. Math teachers provided some math games for the students. Students reviewed or learned math by doing the game. This activity could be a strategy for the teachers to make math become fun and interesting. Here I post some pictures when the grade 8-9 students were enjoying Math Games during Math Week Event.

An architect was invited to be our Guest Speaker. |
After Math Games, we also had Guest visit. The 8-9 graders had an architect as the guest speaker during Math Week Event. We invited an architect to give the student exposure about designing a building. This term the students have been learning about Gemotrical Shapes. They will role as a young architect and the project that they will make is a design of a futuristic building.
The parents were also involved to this event. They joined the Math Classroom Model. Parents were invited to experience how math taught at SHI Bali. They chose any grade that they'd like to visit. They put theirself as the grader they've chosen and got the learning process with the trachers.
Last, the students also displayed their math mini projects such as poster, diorama, and hanging 3D shape object in the classroom. Through Math Week Event, we -as math teachers - hope the students be more interested to learn and use math in their daily life.
